I just received a message from Kevin Page ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) last night (on another board) that suggests that he could only get ALSA to work with the 8233 using 0.9.rc6.
He suggests reverting to that. I'm having problems COMPILING alsa at all for the vt8233, which I will post here shortly, but I'll be trying Kevin's suggestion, probably later today. --Jeff --- Takashi Iwai <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > At Fri, 6 Jun 2003 14:01:40 +0200, > Jean-Christophe Jice Cardot wrote: > > > > Le Vendredi 6 Juin 2003 13:46, Jean-Christophe 'Jice' Cardot a > crit : > > > hello alsa users :) > > > > > > this seems to be a recurrent problem... > > > my hardware : msi KT7 MB with VIA8233a built-in. > > > > > > what ever the version of ALSA I try, I can't get my soundcard > working (or I > > > can, but it has very stange behaviour, see below). > > > > > > of course the sound is not muted (aumix works, but no other mixer > (ex: > > > kmix)) > > > > > > the only program I can play sound with is xmms, via oss emulation > (alsa > > > plugin doesn't work: it makes xmms to freeze) > > > > > > if I try to play sound with another program (ogg123 for example), > either > > > via oss emulation or alsa, it doesn't work: the program seems to > hang.
