Hello all, I would like to ask if it is possible to get full duplex (for video conferencing) on a es1879 based sound card with the alsa drivers.
Acording to http://www.fujitsu-siemens.se/partners/sweden/techsupport/eplb/hdbooks/LifeBook/LB_E3X0.PDF , page 54, this sound card should be sb and sb16pro compatible (sb 16 and sb pro are different models on the alsa-sound matrix ??!!) and support full duplex. I am using mandrake 9, which as libalsa2-0.9.0-0.8rc2mdk libalsa-data-0.9.0-0.8rc2mdk with the modules as part of the kernel tree. There is not tool included to setup alsa. I used sndconfig to setup oss, where I manually chose, io=0x220 irq-5 dma1=1 dma2=5 mpu=0x330 being the result was the folowing modules.conf: post-install awe_wave /bin/sfxload /etc/midi/GU11-ROM.SF2 alias sound-slot-0 sb options sound dmabuf=1 alias synth0 opl3 options opl3 io=0x388 options sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=5 mpu_io=0x330 Of course, it is needless to say that the configuration does not support full duplex. So , my question is, which modules should I use with alsa. Is it snd18xx or snd-sb16 ? And, how do I translate the oss parameters for the alsa driver ? And the most important thing, is full duplex available via oss API ?
