I'm using Redhat 7.3, and have just updated to kernel 2.4.18-26.7.x, so I downloaded the latest drivers (alsa-driver-0.9.0rc8c, alsa-lib-0.9.0rc8c, alsa-utils-0.9.0rc8a), and installed them.
I hvae a SIS7012, so I use the intel8x0 driver. However the new drivers dont seem to work, I keep getting one of these two errors:

When I try to start/stop the service:
/usr/sbin/alsactl: get_control:194: Cannot read control '2,0,0,Master Playback Switch,0': Inappropriate ioctl for device

When I try to run xmms:
failed: audio.c:147 (alsa_setup_mixer)

When I try to run alsamixer:
alsamixer: function snd_mixer_load failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Any ideas what this could be?

Before this I was using kernel 2.4.18-24.7.x, and rc7 of the alsa drivers, which worked a treat.

Arthur.
