Hi,

I have SB Live 5.1 and it looks like situation with Live and Audigy is
pretty similar.

Standard driver for Linux works perfectly except MIDI (but it's
theoretically possible to recompile kernel with alpha version of MIDI
support). Some 3D effects can be loaded from command line. You can also
switch to channel mode (stereo, quadro, 5ch, 5+1, digital output).
So I use standard driver.

ALSA works but I didn't figured out how to enable 5+1 mode (it plays
only stereo). If anybody can tell me how to do that, please help!!!!
It is said that ALSA supports SB's MIDI but I also didn't figure out HOW
yet (it never played a note when I was trying it). ALSA doesn't support
3D effects in any way.

I am not sure if any of these drivers can load MIDI sound fonts!

Nothing close to native Windows driver and utilites for SB's. Any option
makes you beating your head for hours!

IMHO for phonograms you can try ALSA or get a fresh kernel sources and
build it with EMU10K1 MIDI enabled, but anyway you have to go to M$ for
good interface and full set of options.
