The 0.9.0rc7 source tarball contains a number of kernel patches
(found in alsa-driver-0.9.0rc7/utils/patches). I have applied none of these
patches to my system. I also can't find any docs describing when it is
appropriate to apply these patches (all the time? Only with certain
cards?).

Should I apply any patches and try again? If so, which ones?

                                        Thanks,
