I've built and installed alsa-driver, alsa-lib, alsa-utils and alsa-tools
0.9.0rc7, according to the guide at:
http://beyond.linuxfromscratch.co.uk/view/cvs/multimedia/libdriv.html
The build succeeds, and the modules are put into my
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound directory. I've also set up
modules.conf as shown in the guide.
When I start XMMS, (I enabled OSS emulation in Alsa) it seems to play fine but
I hear no sound. The card appears to be detected fine, and I've unmuted/set
volumes for everything in alsamixer.
make sure the following controls are volumes up and none are muted,
'master' 'pcm' 'wave' you can set these with 'alsamixer' which is included
in alsa-utils
