KMix recognises the mixer without problems, and adjusting a slider makes the same change appear in alsamixer; mixing definitely seems to be working right. > If yes to all of those, perhaps you need to choose the right sound > interface in xmms? I've set XMMS to use the OSS driver, as provided by alsa-driver when compiling with --with-oss=yes. A simple OSS test of catting a file to /dev/dsp also results in silence, but no error message.
