I've sucessfully got my Soundblaster PCI 16 installed and running. Despite some negative things I've read, the output sounds very good. And the midi port works fine as well.

But, now I'm trying to get recording to work... Arrrggghhh

I've fiddled with the various mixer settings to no avail. The best I can get is static, and perhaps a faint "recording" in the background of hiss.

I can only think that I've got something not set right...

- Driver ens1371
- Driver options in /etc/modules.conf -- none, since none seem to be listed in the docs

Did you set the correct 'capture source' and capture (recording) volume?

Well, I think I have :)

I have the tape deck plugged into the LINEIN jack and have, according to alsamixer the following enabled:

Master, PCM, Line

Everthing else is muted. Well, except for the first 2 3D contors, and the Capture, Mix and Mix Mono to the far right --- aslamixer refused to mute or set the volume on these, so I'm assuming that they really aren't there....

Or are you talking about something not settable via alsamixer?
