Stefano, I'm not a Linux expert, but I was able to elicit some sound of a Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96, that uses - as far as I know - the same sound chip than the EWX 24/96. Giving you a detailed description of a manual configuration with bash commands is not possible. But if you're using e. g. KDE I could provide you with further information about the neccessary settings in the Control Center. Please let me know.
