so far, enough information is not given from nvidia, so it's difficult to implement blindly.. do you have "IEC958 xxx" controls on mixer? if yes, try to turn them on, at first, to check whether the normal PCM out can be routed to SPDIF out. you can try also the attached patch. this will force to set the SPDIF rate on ac97 codec (if any) for the PCM out.
