Ah..   ok, so out of the four devices in that directory, which ones are
which exactly?  What's the actual difference between /dev/snd/midiC0D1 and
/dev/amidi00?

It appears that both midi input channels come through one device, and some
input goes through others, but an official explanation of what all these
devices do would be great :-)
