Hi,

I'm using alsa-0.9.0rc5 with SBLive 5.1 digital.

I get an enormous range of ncurses columns in alsamixer ( full list
below).

At present I am transfering cassettes to CD and so recording them as .wav
files.

To do this and listen to the .wav files with either arecord/aplay or snd
and also to CDs I seem to need :-
Master
PCM
Wave
Line - set to capture
CD
Capture
AC97 capture

Is there a way to set up the system so that only these items appear in
alsamixer?

Also I can't get pmidi to work.
$ pmidi -l
 Port     Client name                       Port name
 64:0     External MIDI 0                   MIDI 0-0
 65:0     Emu10k1 WaveTable                 Emu10k1 Port 0
 65:1     Emu10k1 WaveTable                 Emu10k1 Port 1
 65:2     Emu10k1 WaveTable                 Emu10k1 Port 2
 65:3     Emu10k1 WaveTable                 Emu10k1 Port 3

but
$  pmidi -p64:0 trio.mid

gives no sound with any alsamixer combination I've tried.
kmidi will play .mid files on my set-up.
