I'm running Red Hat 8.0. I have three audio devices:

1. Midiman Delta 66 (uses the ice1712 driver, and is my primary sound
card)
2. Midiman Midisport USB 2x2 (a usb-midi device, which, as of ALSA 0.9.0
rc4 and rc5, is now using the usb-audio driver)
3. Logitech QuickCam 4000 Pro (a webcam with a built-in microphone,
which uses the usb-audio driver)

The problem is this: The microphone on my quickcam is the only
OSS-compatible device, and was configured using Kudzu. Red Hat
automatically loads the driver with the nondescript name "audio" for
this. Despite the fact that I have altered both /etc/modules.conf and
/etc/sysconfig/hwconf to refer to snd-usb-audio instead, the OSS driver
still loads for this device. This would not be a problem, except that
when this happens, the ALSA driver for my Delta 66 won't load (I assume
that, although ALSA can emulate OSS, it cannot coexist with it). The
Delta 66 must be operative in order for me to hear any sound. I have no
problem using ALSA to drive the webcam... I just can't figure out how to
DO that. I have followed the install instructions (linked directly from
the Soundcard Matrix page) to the letter... what could I be missing
here?
