i believe it's not a bug of "ld" but of "libtool". could you check "libtool --version" ? and, yes, we'll add check for libtool version to configure script once when we can spot which libtool version goes wrong. the best solution would be to find a workaround for such a libtool. the least solution is to disable versioned symbols.
