Hi, I'll re-send an email that seems to never have gotten to the list (I wasn't subscribed at the time and it probably didn't get moderated through). It's about ALSA packages made to perfectly blend into the Red Hat Linux distribution. They are now all available for 8.0 only though (no longer 7.3 nor the betas), from :
http://psyche.freshrpms.net/ The various spec files and scripts are still at the same location and are the latest versions. The most interesting change lately is probably the kernel module building, which now produces a package perfectly matching given kernels, and I've built packages for each and every kernel available in Red Hat Linux 8.0. Some information on how to install the packages can be found here : http://freshrpms.net/docs/alsa/ Cheers, Matthias -- Date: Tue, 17 Sep 2002 19:02:23 +0200 From: Matthias Saou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Red Hat Linux 7.3 ALSA rpm packages Hi, I've repackaged ALSA as cleanly as possible for Red Hat Linux 7.3 a few weeks ago. Thanks to many people testing and rebuilding the packages on as many different setups as possible, reporting problems and suggesting improvements, I'm now quite happy with the result. I'm still open to any suggestions about them. Just keep in mind that my goal wasn't to make "yet another set of ALSA rpm packages" but to make the best possible integration with Red Hat Linux, as ALSA is (still) not included in the official distribution. You can download the current packages from here : http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/testing/alsa/ (included are also builds of ogle and xine enabled to use with ALSA) If you just want to see what the changes I've made are, spec files, patches and various other files (like the /etc/makedev.d/ entry I've made and that I'm quite proud of ;-)), they can be found here under the directories for each of the source packages : http://freshrpms.net/builds/ (look under the "alsa-*" directories) Please reply to me directly if you think it's not worth sending to the entire list, or CC: me for replies as I'm not subscribed to it, thanks.
