Hello,

I'm a new french user on this list and my english is a little poor. Sorry.

This is the problem,

I make the snd-via8233 driver with oss support and debug level=full, as my
motherboard sometimes hang (MSI K7T266).

In syslog, I've many messages like this, by packet (often 4) :

Sep 29 17:13:36 montperdu kernel: ALSA ../alsa-kernel/core/pcm_lib.c:184:
Unexpected hw_pointer value (stream = 0, delta: -144, max jitter = 8192):
wrong interrupt acknowledge?

when using pcm (xmms with oss support by example). When the problen occur,
the sound is crackly...

Here you can found a cat /proc/interrupts
           CPU0
  0: 333536 IO-APIC-edge timer
  1: 9249 IO-APIC-edge keyboard
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  3: 111255 IO-APIC-level VIA8233
  5: 579 IO-APIC-level usb-uhci, usb-uhci, usb-uhci
  8: 1 IO-APIC-edge rtc
 12: 55448 IO-APIC-edge PS/2 Mouse
 14: 14595 IO-APIC-edge ide0
 15: 318457 IO-APIC-edge ide1
 16: 234924 IO-APIC-level nvidia
 17: 17 IO-APIC-level advansys
 19: 570 IO-APIC-level eth0

I try two versions of alsa :
0.9.0beta12 (debian woody)
0.9.0rc3

currently, I use 0.9.0beta12, because it's worth with 0.9.0rc3 (the pcm sound
is hashed, litteraly, with games using allegro like LiquidWar :-) or with
Wine)

Thanks for all,

Jean-marc Harang
