Hi! Well, I seem to have got ALSA running to an extent on my Debian box, using the 0.9beta11 packages in debian/testing... I've compiled the modules from the alsa-source package and installed the modules (using make-kpkg) under /lib/modules/2.4.17/misc, and I am able to play music through XMMS, using the OSS emulation. However, when it comes to playing natively, it doesn't seem to work.
When I go to run alsamixer, I get this: alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: Permission denied Anyone know how I can it to work? 'lsmod' shows this: root@simba:/etc/alsa/modutils# lsmod Module Size Used by Not tainted snd-seq-midi 3232 0 (autoclean) (unused) snd-seq-oss 24608 0 (unused) snd-seq-midi-event 2920 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss] snd-seq 37452 2 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi-event] snd-pcm-oss 36000 1 snd-mixer-oss 9152 0 [snd-pcm-oss] snd-cs46xx 69024 1 snd-rawmidi 12768 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-cs46xx] snd-seq-device 4112 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq snd-rawmidi] snd-pcm 47808 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-cs46xx] snd-timer 10528 0 [snd-seq snd-pcm] snd-ac97-codec 22304 0 [snd-cs46xx] snd 25256 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-cs46xx snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd-pcm snd-timer snd-ac97-codec] lirc_serial 7552 1 serial 44064 1 (autoclean) --- Thanks! ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Gadgets, caffeine, t-shirts, fun stuff. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
