Playing a cd or listening to tv/radio with a grabber card does not
require any classic audio sound driver. The hardware just pushes the
sound through the wires into the soundcard. If the integrated mixer
defaults to non-muted cd/line channel, then you can hear the sound.

Alsa 0.9 is nowadays the recommended way to do things. I guess your
ALC650 is some Advance Logic chip? It's not listed in the Alsa sound
card matrix which does NOT mean that it is not working. What exactly did
you download? A closed source driver?
