Hi, I am trying to use alsa on a portable computer. It is an Acer TravelMate 630. It has an Ali soundcar with the M5451 chipset. I have RedHat Linux 7.2 (kernel 2.14) installed on it. Compilation and installation of
alsa-driver-0.9.0rc1-1 alsa-lib-0.9.0rc1-1 alsa-utils-0.9.0rc1-1 went really smooth. The modules load OK (apparently), sound applicatinos run happily, but I get no sound at all (I did run alsamixer to "un-mute" the card). This my modules.conf ---------- alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-ali5451 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 snd_device_mode=0666 snd_device_gid=0 snd_device_uid=0 options snd-ali5451 snd_index=0 snd_id=CARD_0 ---------- (I used alsaconf with anothr PCI soundcard to generate it, and replaced names afterwards) I am not an expert on all that and I would expect something is wrong with there, but I do not know what could it be. The card is found and /proc/asound/oss/sndstat gives ----------------------------------------- Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v0.9.0rc1 emulation code) Kernel: Linux portsili01 2.4.18-3 #1 Thu Apr 18 07:37:53 EDT 2002 i686 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 10: ALSA emulation Card config: ALI 5451 at 0x1800, irq 10 Audio devices: 0: ALI 5451 (DUPLEX) Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Timers: 7: system timer Mixers: 0: mixer00 ------------------------------------ Cheers, Carlos _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas - http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm?source=osdntextlink _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
