Having alot of problems installing and configuring ALSA 0.9.0rc1 on my machine, I run Mandrake 8.1.
Anybody know of some up-to-date documentation (ie. acknowledges that Kernel 2.4 even exists) that not only takes you through step by step but explains the workings of ALSA and how it interfaces with the Kernel in detail. If I know how everything works I can better understand it. Any recommendations. I've got the 0.9.0rc1 source (drivers, libs and utils), the 0.9.0beta9 source (drivers libs and utils -> libs won't compile) and the latest sources for the 0.5.x drivers, libs and utils (0.5.12a, 0.5.10b and 0.5.10 respectively). ./configure make make install in all three source trees, these are the lines in my modules.conf file # ================================ # ALSA Initialisation # Card = Creative Vibra128 PCI # Ensonique 1731 chipset # ================================ # ALSA portion alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-ens1730.o # OSS portion alias snd-card-0 sound-slot-0 # Enabling OSS Compatibility alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss It doesn't seem to detect the card. Anybody got any advice, right now I'm kinda frustrated.
