Hi,

I'm using alsa with the following configuration:

elmar@julian:/proc/asound$ cat sndstat
Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v0.9.0beta12 emulation code)
Kernel: Linux julian 2.4.18 #1 Sat May 11 02:25:08 CEST 2002 i686
Config options: 0

Installed drivers:
Type 10: ALSA emulation

Card config:
VIA 8233 at 0x1000, irq 5

Audio devices:
0: VIA 8233 (DUPLEX)

Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

Timers:
7: system timer

Mixers:
0: mixer00
elmar@julian:/proc/asound$

Sound is working with xmms and so on.
But using the computer during listening to some music leads to
interruptions on nearly every action I'm doing (www browsing, reading
mails, writing mails, etc.). Small interruptions of a few milliseconds,
but very disturbing.

My CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 1600+ and the cpu load is very low.

Is there some configuration possibility to tune the priority of alsa? Or
how can I enhance the playing of music?

Regards,
 Elmar
