I have installed the alsa 0.9.0beta12 driver, lib and utils on a SuSE 7.1 distribution with a 2.2.18 kernel. The installations seems to have gone correctly but I cannot produce any sound from the rme9636 card using aplay.
sudo aplay -d 0 -c 1 -t wav file.wav produces Playing WAVE 'file.wav' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono but no audio output. A Ctrl C produces a glitchy noise from the speakers, which is different for different input files and the message Aborted... I have no asound.conf file. I have been unable to unmute the mixer channels using amixer although I don't know if this is appropriate for the rme-9636. lsmod produces Module Size Used by parport_probe 3536 0 (autoclean) parport_pc 7600 1 (autoclean) lp 5520 0 (autoclean) parport 7488 1 (autoclean) [parport_probe parport_pc lp] ipv6 99696 -1 (autoclean) mousedev 3824 0 (unused) hid 11680 0 (unused) input 2880 0 [mousedev hid] usb-uhci 19088 0 (unused) usbcore 44560 1 [hid usb-uhci] rtl8139 11904 1 (autoclean) snd-rme9652 15792 0 snd-pcm 56480 0 [snd-rme9652] snd-timer 11152 0 [snd-pcm] snd 35808 0 [snd-rme9652 snd-pcm snd-timer] soundcore 2576 0 [snd] snd-rme9652-mem 1888 2 [snd-rme9652] cat /proc/asound/card0/rme9652 produces RME Digi9636 (Card #1) Buffers: capture cf000000 playback cee00000 IRQ: 5 Registers bus: 0xde000000 VM: 0xd006f000 Control register: 400c Latency: 4096 samples (2 periods of 16384 bytes) Hardware pointer (frames): 0 Passthru: no Clock mode: autosync Pref. sync source: ADAT1 IEC958 input: Coaxial IEC958 output: Coaxial only IEC958 quality: Consumer IEC958 emphasis: off IEC958 Dolby: off IEC958 sample rate: error flag set ADAT Sample rate: 44100Hz ADAT1: No Lock ADAT2: No Lock ADAT3: No Lock Timecode signal: no Punch Status: 1: off 2: off 3: off 4: off 5: off 6: off 7: off 8: off 9: off 10: off 11: off 12: off 13: off 14: off 15: off 16: off 17: off 18: off sudo aplay -l produces card 0: card0 [RME Digi9636], device 0: RME Digi9636 [RME Digi9636] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Any help would be greatly appreciated Kris Modrak _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
