Hi all, I have P4 system with motherboard (P4S5A) from ECS. This board has on-board sound. And all i can read about the board is that it is AC97 complient codec.
When i execute lspcidrake -v | egrep -i '(audio|sound)' i get snd-card-intel8x0: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]|SiS7012 PCI Audio Accelerator [MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO] (vendor:1039 device:7012) When i do amixer set -c 1 Master 70 unmute i get The ALSA sound driver was not detected in this system. Now i execute /etc/rc.d/init.d/alsa restart i see Doing alsactl to store mixer settings... [ OK ] Shutting down ALSA sound driver (version 0.5.12a): [ OK ] Starting ALSA version 0.5.12a: (intel8x0) [ OK ] Try unmuting again, still no sound. modprobe snd-card-intel8x0 /lib/modules/2.4.18-4mdk/alsa/snd-card-intel8x0.o.gz: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18-4mdk/alsa/snd-card-intel8x0.o.gz failed modprobe: insmod snd-card-intel8x0 failed I saw the following entry in the INSTALL file. No other info. Module snd-intel8x0.o --------------------- Module for AC'97 motherboards from Intel. * Intel i810/810E, i815, i820, i830, i840, MX440 * SiS 7012 (SiS 735) * NVidia NForce snd_ac97_clock - AC'97 codec clock base (0 = auto-detect) Module supports autoprobe and multiple bus-master chips (max 8). Note: the latest driver supports auto-detection of chip clock. if you still encounter too fast playback, specify the clock explicitly via the module option "snd_ac97_clock=41194". Could some one please help. I am using the Latest 8.2 version of Mandrake Linux Pavan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
