While testing arecord and aplay with a hammerfall
9652, I've noticed that levels recorded with 'arecord
-f S16_BE -r 44100 hammerfall' are significantly lower
on the playback than they are in the source.
These signals are traveling optical to and from and
I'm maintaining unity gain at each stage within 4416
mixing consol. I think the playback level of arecord
should be exactly the same as that in the 4416. As I
write this, it occurs to me that maybe I should read
the man page and find gain control for aplay; however,
I'd think aplay would default to unity. If it is
defaulting to unity and I'm not overlooking something,
then I guess something's suspect.
Well, maybe someone can see what I'm overlooking. Ah
crap, this probably isn't the right list to send this
to. I'll send to alsa later
