Hi all,
I'm running ALSA on my Sony Vaio Z505GA[1] with Yamaha DS-XG PCI (YMF744) sound card, using the ymfpci module. Normally sound works perfectly, however it stops when any of the following situations occur: * I unload the sound modules and reload them * I suspend the machine and then wake it up (whether I unload the modules or not) * I reboot the machine (that is, no power cycle, just a reboot) Ie, the _only_ situation when it works is when I boot the machine from power off. When any of the situations listed above happen, the messages I get in the logs are: Jan 24 09:39:55 merrick kernel: PCI: Enabling device 00:09.0 (0000 -> 0003) Jan 24 09:39:55 merrick kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 9 for device 00:09.0 Jan 24 09:39:55 merrick kernel: PCI: Setting latency timer of device 00:09.0 to 64 Jan 24 09:39:56 merrick kernel: ALSA ymfpci.c:89: codec_ready: codec 0 is not ready [0xffff] Jan 24 09:39:56 merrick kernel: ALSA card-ymfpci.c:325: Yamaha DS-XG PCI soundcard not found or device busy I've tried changing the PNP-BIOS setting on the machine, but it doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Anyone have any clues as to how I can fix this? I'm running kernel 2.4.17, with alsa version 0.9.0beta10. Cheers, Paul. [1] FWIW, this machine is almost identical to the Z600TEK, Z600LEK and Z600HEK models sold in Europe, and the Z505 Slimline sold in North America. -- Paul Dwerryhouse "Why not just have the arresting officer execute you on the spot?
