Hi Takashi Iwai! Now I tried it with a new installed SUSE LINUX 7.3 system with this options:
"SPDIF Output Switch" true "SPDIF Out To DAC" true "SPDIF DAC To Out" false "SPDIF 5V" true % aplay -d2 test.wav I have still the same result. The shell hangs and I have to close it. Here is the dump of /proc/asound/card0/cmipci during this hang: C-Media PCI 00: 02 00 01 00 04: 40 0d 00 00 08: 03 00 29 00 0c: 00 00 01 07 10: c0 00 00 40 14: 00 00 80 00 18: 00 00 00 00 1c: cf ad fa fd 20: 10 40 f8 00 24: 02 01 00 00 28: ff ff ff ff 2c: ff ff ff ff 30: 22 64 40 80 34: 00 00 00 00 38: 00 00 00 00 3c: 00 00 00 00 I think this things are important for you. When I start the system, my xconsole says this: Feb 3 12:06:43 christoph modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-1 Feb 3 12:06:43 christoph modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-1-0 I don't no if this is something from alsa. You said that is better to use alsa 0.9.0 and so I tried to install it, but ... ->checking for kernel version... The file /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h d oes not exist -> but I have installed the kernel source packet from SUSE 7.3 -> Is it a problem, when I have a Kernel with SMP support ... -> or is it a problem when my kernel version is 2.4 because -> SUSE 7.3 contains only 2.4 kernel source -> I have SUSE 7.0 too. Shut I try it with a 2.2 SMP kernel (source)?
