hi, I've been running Mandrake 8.1 and trying to get my card to record under programs like Audacity and SLAB. I have a Midiman D-Man PCI dual-input card (24-bit) which (I believe) is the Crystal Soundfusion chipset (Mandrake 8.1 detected it in my /etc/modules.conf file as the CS46XX module ). I have installed all the alsa packages (rpm) that come native with my system: alsa-lib 0.5.10-2MDK alsa-lib-devel 0.5.10-2MDK alsa-utils 0.5.10-3MDK alsaplayer 0.99.36-1MDK
I do have sound working.. i can play music (line in, CD player) through the card. However, I am unable to record. I do not have any lines muted in my mixer and all volumes are high. My /etc/modules.conf appears as the following (the sound portion, after i added some entries) alias sound-slot-0 cs46xx alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss when i attempt to run alsaplayer, i get the following error: (C) 1999-2001 Andy Lo A Foe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and others. ALSA->open(): No such file or directory /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/libalsa.so failed to load OSS: error opening /dev/dsp: No such file or directory /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/liboss.so failed to load /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/libesound.so failed to load when i attempt to run amixer: The ALSA sound driver was not detected in this system. The author of SLAB said something about the default Mandrake installation does not include header files for development work. (see http://www.slabexchange.org/index.cgi?FORUM+view=631 ) anyway, Im not quite sure what to do, Im pretty new to linux and at my wits end at this point. Any suggestions would be awesome and greatly appreciated. thanks, Matt Becker -- _______________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup 1 cent a minute calls anywhere in the U.S.! http://www.getpennytalk.com/cgi-bin/adforward.cgi?p_key=RG9853KJ&url=http://www.getpennytalk.com _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
