according to my problems I described in http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/12350/2001/12/0/7423246/ http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/SourceForge/12350/0/7452370/ I tried aplay with following results:
aplay -l card 0: card0 [C-Media PCI CMI8738-MC6], device 0: CMI8738-MC6 [C-Media PCI DAC/ADC] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: card0 [C-Media PCI CMI8738-MC6], device 1: CMI8738-MC6 [C-Media PCI 2nd DAC] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: card0 [C-Media PCI CMI8738-MC6], device 2: CMI8738-MC6 [C-Media PCI IEC958] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 it looks o.k. for me and extract_ac3 AC3TEST.VOB | ac3dec | aplay run fine, but (of course) without 5.1) and extract_ac3 AC3TEST.VOB | ac3dec | aplay -D spdif gives me the following: ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:597:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D2p failed: Device or resource busy aplay: main:446: audio open error: Device or resource busy whats wrong and how can I found why dev/snd/pcmC0D2p should be busy (I doubt it) ??? -- _ _ (o)--(o) /.______.\ \________/ ./ \.
