ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mana/alsa090_pcm_mini-howto_v1.0.txt It briefly describes how to write a simple PCM application for ALSA 0.9.0. I also have written some QT applications which can be compiled with either ALSA 0.5.x or ALSA 0.9.0.
