Hi. I get exactly the same error with my soundchip (via686a). I used the latest beta of alsa and tried it on kernel 2.2.19 and 2.4.10. (Slackware 8) The kernel-module via82cxxx_audio is working without problems, but the alsa-module snd-card-via686a isn't. :( I checked everything (well, I think I did), but now I don't know what else I could try.
