Hi list,

i could not search the geocrawler list arquives, let me know if this was
alreay answered.

i'm having trouble to compile the alsa-drivers (tried both version 0.5.11
and .10) when enabling the oss/free support. I get the follwoing error
message from make:

sound_oss.c:27: #error "Enable the OSS soundcore multiplexer (CONFIG_SOUND)
in the kernel."

If i disable the oss/free support, the compilation goes fine, and i can
create snd dev, modprobe modules, and aplay wav/cd just fine.
But i could not use Realplayer (says cannot open audio device) nor Esound
(does not find /dev/dsp, which is there).

I guess i will need oss/free support to use this apps, won't i?
Hints??

I am using kernel 2.2.19pre17-ide (debian potato), my sound is onboard from
VIA VT82C-686B (asus A7V133 board w/ VIA KT133A chipset).

thanks a lot,
