Let me rephrase this - anyone got this card to work with the 0.5.x release branch of drivers and not the 0.9.x beta drivers? When running KDE2, the 0.9.x drivers isn't really an option yet. Midiman posts a link to the 0.5.3 drivers, apparently believing that the 0.5.x drivers should work too. Do they? Any particular trick to it, or musings about what causes the silence? (Yeah, everything is unmuted, and the card itself works (with other drivers and OSes)). I should perhaps also mention that the card is silent on both analogue and S/P-DIF output, and yet nothing reports any errors.
