Hi, I know, ther have been several threads about getting an SBLive! to work with 4 Speakers but i've read through and found no solution, so I' try my luck this way.
I've downloaded the latest ALSA Stuff 0.9.beta8a (driver, lib, tools, oss) and installed. Then i unloaded all previously loaded sound modules (sound-core,ac97_codec) After doing a modprobe snd-card-emu10k1 and modprobe snd-pcm-oss, several ALSA Modules were loaded sucessfully without complaints. ... snd-pcm-oss 38192 0 snd-mixer-oss 9008 1 [snd-pcm-oss] snd-card-emu10k1 2320 1 snd-emu10k1 51184 0 [snd-card-emu10k1] snd-pcm 48224 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-emu10k1] snd-timer 9776 0 [snd-pcm] snd-rawmidi 12192 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-ac97-codec 23504 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-util-mem 1584 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-hwdep 3664 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-seq-device 4080 0 [snd-card-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi] snd 27072 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-card-emu10k1 snd-emu10k1 snd-pcm snd-timer snd-rawmidi snd-ac97-codec snd-util-mem snd-hwdep snd-seq-device] soundcore 4208 5 [snd] ... When calling amixer i got a very long list of controls (i think nearly 100). Next i did was checking (and removing if there) /etc/asound.state and then starting alsamixer to unmute the controls and setting volume. Fine i thought, and started cdplay, but sound only from the front speakers. The same front-sound came when playing mp3s with alsaplayer. And thats exactly the point where I'm now, after searching for an solution since yesterday. I've read about an control "line3" which is used for front/rear balance but i couldn't find an control in my mixer settings. Some System data: Linux Mandrake 8.1 Original Kernel from MDK 2.4.8, SBLive! Value with Digital I/O Addon Thank you for any help! kind regards, Reinhard _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
