i was running the 2.4.12 kernel, so i supposed that it would compile
against 2.4.12 i also have pci irq sharing enabled. however, i had not run
the snddevices script. thinking that was the problem, i ran it, however,
that did not do me any good. my output on doing "alsasound start" is:
./alsasound start
Starting sound driver: snd-card-emu10k1
/lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o: init_module:
No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o: insmod
snd-card-emu10k1 failed

os:
win2k sp2 (sound works using the creative drivers)
suse 7.2 running 2.4.4smp (stock kernel) and 2.4.12 (compiled from source)

i had sound under 2.4.4smp using alsa 0.5.10 however i do not have sound
under the 2.4.12 kernel on which i am trying to run alsa 0.9beta8.
