hello, kernel: 2.4.12 distribution: suse 7.2 alsa-version: 0.9beta8
i am trying to install these drivers on my machine. previously they were running the 0.5.10 drivers that are included with the distribution but i upgraded my kernel and wanted to see what the latest and greatest alsa had to offer. the alsa modules are installed in /lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound soundcore.o has also been compiled as a modules from the kernel sources. there is a script in /etc/init.d/ called alsasound. running "alsasound start" results in the module insertion failing since it complains that the device is not found. doing "modprobe snd-card-emu10k1" doesn't work either. the output from that command is: modprobe snd-card-emu10k1 /lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters /lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/sound/snd-card-emu10k1.o: insmod snd-card-emu10k1 failed i have checked proc/pci and have noticed that my scsi controller and my sound card are sharing irq 16. however, they both work fine under alsa 0.5.10 so i am confused. any ideas would be appreciated. sincerely. ali asad lotia "some people believe that regular re-installing could be a hidden feature of Windows 98..." -from toms hardware http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/01q3/010914/index.html _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
