Sorry, but are you sure you followed the Debian installation
instructions?  From what I remember, you don't run configure or make
directly, but use debian/rules with the parameters given in the README
file in /usr/share/doc/alsa-source

You should be able to use make-kpkg too, from the docs, but I've never
managed to get that working.
