I posted a prior version of this to Discord earlier this month for some initial feedback, but I wanted to give folks another chance to weigh in. Because the amendment process is (deliberately) a bit cumbersome and making it into a contest will require acting without 2 objections, I'd rather handle potential criticisms up front than patch them later.

Quick summary: players are better off -- in expectation, at least -- gambling their excess spendies here than converting them directly to radiance, but there is also risk involved. Also, the Veblen might even affect the outcome!

IV) D) is meant to cover taxes (if those ever arise again), adjustments happening via proposals, scam effects, etc.

Changes from the Discord draft:

* a more rigorous amendment process
* added the "Freedom of Assocation" section, making it clear how to join and leave the contract (mainly intended to give folks ample opportunity to block amendments to the terms if they object, as one does not need to be a party to play)
* "singleton" added to the definition of the wheel switch

Backroom Casino

I) Pit Boss

      The Pit Boss is Mischief.

II) Wheel of Fortune

The wheel is an untracked singleton switch with two possible
values: not spinning (default) and spinning. To "spin the wheel"
means to flip the wheel switch to spinning. The wheel switch
CANNOT be flipped except as explicitly allowed by the body of
      this contract.

A player CAN spin the wheel by announcement if both of the
      following are true:

         A) the wheel has not been spinning at any time in the past
            week, and

         B) the most recent moment of truth was at least three weeks
            ago.

III) Moments of Truth

The following are moments of truth:

         A) the creation of this contract, and

         B) any time an entity spins the wheel.

IV) Fortune and Fate

If the wheel is spinning, the Pit Boss CAN, and SHALL in a timely
fashion, resolve it according to the following procedure:

         A) The betting period is the period between (but not
including) the second most recent moment of truth and
(including) the most recent moment of truth.

         B) Each entity holds a number of tickets equal to the number
of times in the betting period that entity paid a fee of 1
spendie to cause this contract to gain a candle. (All other
            entities hold zero tickets.)

         C) The total number of candles gained by this contract during
the betting period is denoted C.

         D) In the event that this contract's candle holdings change
            other than due to:

            1) the payment of a fee of 1 spendie to cause this contract
               to gain a candle, or

            2) actions taken in accordance with the body of this
contract to resolve a spin of the wheel,

then the Pit Boss CAN in eir discretion adjust the ticket
holdings of any entity or the value of C. If e does so, e
SHALL do so in a reasonably fair and equitable manner
considering the nature of the events that modified this
            contract's candle holdings.

         E) The Pit Boss SHALL generate a random integer N between 1
            and 100 (inclusive of both).

            1) If 1 <= N <= 19: the outcome of the spin is a raid.

            2) If N = 20:

               i. If the owner of the Veblen as of the most recent
moment of truth holds at least one ticket and is
still a player at the time the spin is resolved, then
the outcome of the spin is that e is the lucky one.

ii. Otherwise, the outcome of the spin is a raid.

            3) If 21 <= N <= 100:

               i. If, as of the time the spin is resolved, no players
hold tickets, then the outcome of the spin is a raid.

ii. Otherwise, the Pit Boss SHALL randomly select one
player, with each player's probability proportional
to eir ticket holdings. The outcome of the spin is
that the selected player is the lucky one.

         F) The Pit Boss SHALL announce the outcome of the spin,
additionally specifying all of the following:

            1) the number of tickets held by each entity holding one or
more tickets (however, e NEED NOT list any such entities
who, as of the time the spin is resolved, are not
               players);

            2) the value of C;

            3) the value of N; and

            4) if any adjustments are made under subsection D) of this
procedure, the nature of each adjustment made and a
brief summary or explanation of the corresponding event
               that led to the adjustment.

         G) The Pit Boss SHALL perform the following actions, as
            applicable, in order:

            1) If the outcome of the spin is a raid: the Pit Boss CAN
and SHALL destroy C of this contract's candles.

            2) If the outcome of the spin is a player is the lucky one:
the Pit Boss CAN and SHALL bestow a prize of C radiance
               on that player.

            3) The Pit Boss CAN and SHALL flip the wheel switch to not
               spinning by announcement.

V) Termination

If the wheel is not spinning and this contract owns no candles,
this contract CAN be terminated either:

         A) by announcement by the Pit Boss, or

         B) with support of at least half of its members.

VI) Amendments

The terms of this contract CAN be amended with either:

         A) support of at least two-thirds of its members; or

         B) support of at least half of its members, provided the Pit
            Boss is one of the supporters;

provided that, in either case, the following were published --
in the same message -- clearly, conspicuously, explicitly, and
without obfuscation at least 14 days and not more than 28 days
      before the amendment was enacted:

         C) the changes to be made to the terms of this contract; and

         D) an indication that such changes are intended as a potential
amendment to terms of this contract.

VII) Freedom of Association

A player who is not already a party to this contract CAN become a
party to this contract by announcement.

A party to this contract other than the Pit Boss CAN cease to be
a party to this contract by announcement.

A party to this contract CAN remove another party to this
contract (the "absent party") by announcement, clearly
identifying the absent party, provided that the absent party has
not been a player at any time in the two weeks prior to the
      announcement.

VIII) Spirit of the Game

The terms of this contract are to be interpreted to the maximum
extent possible in accordance with their intended spirit.

The Pit Boss SHALL exercise all eir powers and responsibilities
with respect to this contract in good faith.
