I absolutely see where you're coming from, and I wouldn't mind a
contract for it. The point of the auction rules, though, was to allow
bidders to bid more than they have as long as they can pay it when the
auction ends. Although, doing something like this with a contract does
prevent players from going into a sort of debt because of auctions.

Auctions should just be auto-transfer of funds tbh. Like to make a bid you
have to put the money in escrow and when the auction is resolved, the
person in charge of administering the auctions should be able to deal with
the money and flip the ownership switches as part of that.
