However! It also states at the beginning of it that "An entity authorized by a rule or contract to initiate an Auction CAN do so by announcement." We have a contradiction here if another rule (or contract) allows our Auctioneer to initiate the Auction! They CAN, yet CANNOT at the same time! A paradox? A stalemate? Luckily: no! This contradiction is solved via Rule 2240, "No Cretans Need Apply"!: "In a conflict between clauses of the same Rule, if exactly one claims precedence over the other, then it takes precedence; otherwise, the later clause takes precedence." Yes, that's right. If we find a way for the Auctioneer to be authorized to initiate an Auction, then they CAN do it! And we have it right in Rule 2004! It states that "For this auction, the announcer is the Cartographor, the auctioneer is the Cartographor(...)". And there we have it! Our Cartographer was authorized by the rules to be the auctioneer because the rules themselves say that they are it, right there! There you have it. The auctions were legitimate!
