The thing about Ribbons is that they're a solo challenge, not really a competition. The idea was to make a long-term goal a single person can work on over the course of months or years without other people having any motivation to interfere with it. Also, it's often to your advantage to win second in the case of near- simultaneous wins, as we often give perks to the most recent winner. -- ais523
