I hadn't quite realized just how bad the situation was, but on
reflection, you're right -- I've hardly played at all recently, and
furthermore I'd be hard-pressed to name any significant events that
*other people* have perpetrated.

I feel like the current ruleset *could* be a good game, if it were a web
game with a discoverable point-and-click interface, and pictures of the
Cards in your hand with their Exploits written on them.

As an email game, though, with a ruleset that must be interpreted by
hand by humans, it lacks discoverability.

It may be possible to fix this by drastically reorganizing the ruleset.
It may be less effort to replace the system, though.
