As the coloured VC game developed, I was reminded of the gems and runes aspect of Diablo II (one of the few modern computer games I've played). One can upgrade weapons and armour by inserting magical gems that have particular effects (making the weapon deal additional damage of particular types, for example). At the more advanced level there are inscribed stones with similar effects, and (more interestingly) combining particular sets of runes in particular orders gives additional upgrades. With VCs, perhaps we can develop new ways to spend sets of VCs of rule-specified colours (rather than just any different colours). We don't need any geometry to do this initially; geometry is a possible future refinement. -zefram
