"Bias"as I use it is in the "Bayesian prior" sense which has to do with
induction rather than decision.  What you're referring to is in the utility
function that informs decision theory rather than the inductive bias that
informs science.

We in the West place a very high value on the truth hence pure science and
are, at least ostensibly, very opposed to biasing induction.  That's what
the argument about "algorithmic bias" is _appealing_ to, even though, in
actual fact, what the "algorithmic bias" noise is really all about is
avoiding the results of unbiased induction.
