Korrelan, Your solution presumes the robbers wouldn't see through this ruse, that they would accept, that you CAN kill them, and that you won't then be seen as a murderous robber who should then be killed by society.
Do you see any workarounds or sidesteps to these challenges - maybe enough to at least make this a backup plan? Can anyone here think of a historical example where such a thing was resolved to either side's satisfaction WITHOUT open warfare?
