We can see what replacing humans with machines looks like. It is called

"automation" and it typically happens fairly gradually. Humans don't suddenly

disappear from the loop. Rather there are many different loops, which they get

eliminated from one at a time - and they often "fade out" - with increasingly

infrequent monitoring and interventions being required. IOW, cultural evolution

happens gradually too. There is no "leap".
