The advantage we see to it is that with their STB, it's old people friendly in
that it has the same UI as regular DirecTV. No needing to run an app, browse
through your stereotypical streaming UI.

Subject: [AFMUG] DirecTV streaming requires 24 month contract?

Streaming services seem to be testing how far they can crank up the price
before people cancel, but IMHO the one good thing about streaming is they are
all month-to-month services. The free trials have mostly disappeared, but you
can cancel any time.

So help me understand the DirecTV streaming version. No satellite dish to
install, they just send you a cheap looking little dongle. And the monthly
price is up there with the most expensive streaming packages that include live
TV.

So how do they get away with requiring a 24 month contract, with a $20/mo ETF?
Why would anyone sign a 2 year contract for a streaming service? And what are
they providing that justifies a $400+ early termination fee if you cancel?
