I won't believe anything until I see it. I feel that cambium is looking at moving to an architecture where the AP is a FPGA based SDR that talks to SMs that use off the shelf Silicon. Assuming it works, one can then leverage the cost savings of the cheap 802.11 chipsets on the SM side while still having some (most?) of the flexibility that comes with a FPGA based AP.
I'm not convinced yet. I've seen companies struggle with the constraints of off the shelf Silicon. On the other hand, cambium is doing a decent job with epmp.
