We have one 450v AP deployed and one more we are planning to replace a 450i
sector where 5 GHz interference is a huge issue.

I don't have any 6 GHz performance data for you, 6 GHz and AFC support just
recently became available, even though we bought the hardware at the
beginning of the year. SFP support also just recently released in the FW.
Feature rollout has been very slow and incremental, it's not all there yet.
You're not going to do wide channels or aggregate unequal size channels yet,
which limits the ability to aggregate 5 and 6 GHz.

Main thing holding us back is our customers are mostly residential and right
now there is only the 4x4 SM which is essentially the same HW as the AP. It
is big, expensive, and requires a 48V POE. It would be easier to justify
that if you have high value, high bandwidth commercial customers.

The one sector we deployed is basically side-by-side with a 450i so we can
switch customers between them and compare 5 GHz performance. One
observation is the AP antenna performance for customers within 0.5 mile of
the AP is significantly worse than the 450i, we have a subdivision with
customers 0.25 - 0.5 mile from the AP at 185 feet AGL so there is 2-5 degree
uptilt. Not sure if the electrical downtilt or null fill isn't as good as
the 450i sector. Maybe compromises had to be made to get a wideband antenna
that covers both 5 and 6 GHz.

I still need to find a test customer farther from the AP where we can
replace a 450b SM with a 450v 4x4 and do testing at 6 GHz. Our main intent
with this sector was the closer customers in the subdivision since most of
them can get cable. I may have a tech add some mechanical downtilt to the
AP and see if that helps.

I'm not sure I see us using the 450b6 given its limited frequency range. I
guess it would be the 450v 2x2 we would be waiting for.

Oh, and I'm not aware of any license keys to unlock capacity. Not like the
original 450 series with the sustained speed licenses. The Qualcomm AFC is
also rolled into the hardware cost, no monthly fee.

Subject: [AFMUG] Cambium 450v 6Ghz, any experience?

Has anyone deployed the 450v in 6Ghz yet? Would love to understand what kind
of performance people are seeing, and what kind of range you are getting in
6Ghz. Also not sure I fully understand how Cambium is selling these units
now days.. Do you have to pay extra to unlock capacity on AP or SMs? Been
awhile since we deployed 450 but 6Ghz is interesting.
