Don’t recall. Odd how long something can stay, unused and unnoticed in a cupboard. I guess I don’t use it that much. High sugar content, no moldy taste, I figured it was safe. Sugar, Salt or Acid is generally OK.
My kids toss it as soon as the use by is hit. I was raised on a farm with farm hands in the summer. No AC. Small fridge. Luke warm water to drink. My mother would put the remnants of the morning breakfast out with a paper tower over it for folks to snack on all day long. I have always felt the cooking process sterilizes food so it should be safe for a few days if left out and protected from flies.
