*nods* Not as secure. Ya know, I can TLS end to end, but I can also stick a 30
year old tape recorder on the phone line NID at the business and record your
fax.

I just ran into this yesterday.
I wonder if it is a HIPPA thing or DEA thing where you can control the end
point of the conveyance of the information?

IP is not as secure, perhaps, in someone’s mind.

Them doctors loves their faxes.

First FTTH customer I ever did was to a larger office full of doctors. I talked
them into swinging everything to me.
I payed to have the incumbent hook them back up to POTS after a few days of
trying.
The main doctor in this new office building was a friend of mine.

I will never touch a doctor or pharmacy again.

Fax and IP/SIP just do not play nice.

I think there is something about the law and a document being a legal signature
being an original or a fax. Laws haven’t caught up to digital signatures or
pictures of an original document.

One of my Physical therapy customers, all their patient documentation is via
fax. The therapist hand writes out the report for the patient, then it's faxed
to corporate where it's automagically sucked into the customers digital file.
So they send 100 faxes/day. You would think that it should all be just entered
right into the customers digital file.

Why do people fax anything in 2021?
